DAVIE, Fla., Aug. 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Midas Entertainment, Inc. (Pink Sheets:MDAS) announced that CityPoker.com began operations last week and has almost 1,000 player sign-ups since inception. CityPoker.com is powered by Midas Entertainment.

MANTECA -- Hoping to capitalize on the recent success of programs such as "The World Series of Poker" and "Celebrity Poker Challenge," nonprofit organization Give Every Child A Chance has added a Texas hold em tournament to its annual casino night fund-raiser.
Tickets are on sale for the fourth annual Night of Kings and Queens, with all proceeds going to the tutoring programs of Give Every Child A Chance.

Santa Cruz police arrested a third suspect this morning in connection with the shooting death last month of a poker player who was trying to recover $20 stolen from him.
Sgt. Brad Goodwin said the police used a warrant to search the home of 24-year-old Francisco Valenciano, and arrested him again after originally having to cut him loose for lack of evidence.

In January, ESPN will debut its next scripted dramatic series, Tilt, set at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Tilt will be aired on Thursday nights beginning January 13 at 9 p.m. ET, with one-hour shows that will explore the drama of high-stakes gambling, as well as the action away from the table where greed and revenge fuel conflict, power plays and deal making.

Earlier this summer, ESPN ran a countdown clock on SportsCenter reminding viewers how much time remained until the start of the World Series of Poker.
The Travel Channel and Bravo also have anted up with poker programming.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Following the success of televised poker in cable, the card game is ready to place its bets in syndication.
"The Ultimate Poker Challenge," a one-hour weekly show set for a Sept. 4 launch, will feature amateur and professional poker players competing against one another in 23 individual no-limit Texas Hold 'Em tournaments. The players will be whittled down to eight finalists, who will compete for the ultimate prize of more than $1 million.
