Harrah's Lake Tahoe may give tourism a hand next April.
With the World Series of Poker show to be televised from Stateline, tourism and casinos insiders are welcoming the ESPN show with open arms.
"Anything Nevada can (do) to attract events to the Lake Tahoe area is beneficial to this tourism-based economy," said Chris Chrystal, spokeswoman for the Nevada Commission on Tourism.

Annie Duke beat out her older brother and eight other poker legends to win $2 million and the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions.

With the WORLD POKER TOUR(TM) (WPT) setting records for numbers of players and prize pools at its Season 3 tournament events, WPT Enterprises, Inc. (WPTE) announced a ten-year commitment to its partner casinos by exercising its contract options. WPTE plans to schedule a minimum of 15 WPT-sanctioned events each year, averaging one or more each month through 2013. In conjunction with this commitment, WPT published its Season 4, 5, and 6 tournament schedules through 2008. The WORLD POKER TOUR is the highest-rated television show in the history of the Travel Channel, airing every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. PT/ET.

The Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce is scrambling to make sure a gambling parlor it plans for this weekend's community Fall Festival doesn't run afoul of gaming laws.
